So you work for the government because the only other entity hiring in your area is Walmart and now you are fortunate enough to be able to sprinkle cheese on top of your beans and rice. Life is good until you discover some unsavory activity going on in your workplace and you report it to the OIG and it is completely ignored but now you are blacklisted and your career will never go anywhere at all. Then you uncover some illegal activity and report that and you wake up dead.
It really is that simple folks. The government, as an entity, is a self-protecting entity and the laws that appear to be designed to make the government more transparent are really just window dressing. The people that work for the government are just cogs in the wheel and the cogs can easily be replaced at any time, either through force or neglect.
It is extraordinarily rare for a real whistleblower who uncovers serious illegal activity by the government to live a long, healthy life. Whistleblowers are either largely ignored or eliminated. If you are reading about a whistleblower in the news or watching one on TV, that “whistleblower” is sanctioned and allowed by the government to be known by you.
